Australia’s backup wicket-keeper Josh Inglis has been ruled out of the T20 World Cup due to a right-hand injury.
Inglis has been replaced by explosive all-rounder Cameron Green and hence Aussies now have just one keeper in the 15-member squad i.e. Matthew Wade.
The wicketkeeper-batter met this unusual injury while playing golf when his six-iron snapped and cut his hand open.
Cameron Green replaces Inglis
Cameron Green has played seven T20Is for Aussies in which he looked in a red-hot form specifically at the top order. He can bat in the middle order too.
The aggressive allrounder slammed two fifties at strike rates around 200 during his maiden T20 series in India.
He has scored 136 runs till now and has 5 wickets under his belt in the short career.
Considering the kind of returns the Australian team was getting since his debut game, it was quite evident that he’ll get a chance in the World Cup squad.
However, the presence of pace allrounders Mitchell Marsh and Marcus Stoinis made it difficult for the Aussie selectors to pick Green and he was left out due to problems of plenty.
Just before adding Green to the squad, coach McDonald told SEN Radio “Anyone that can bat anywhere in the order and can give you a few handy overs can give you a different look if something were to go wrong with your top seven batters.”
“We’ve got to work out what a squad would look like going into a World Cup without a backup keeper and, and the scenario that (if) Matthew Wade were to get injured on the morning of the game, what would you do there,” he added.
Australian Team must be thinking about out-of-form Steven Smith as well as they’ve already announced to use of Tim David in place of Smith in the game against New Zealand.

With the addition of Green, Finch now has an additional option to consider in the middle order in case any of the established batter gets injured.
Aaron Finch’s team will begin its title defense against New Zealand in Sydney on Saturday.
