Dhawan’s famous thigh-five celebration was again seen today, though it was not during the match. It happened during the toss ahead of the third ODI against Srilanka, after he won the toss. He lost the toss in the first two ODIs but this time around, he called for the right side of the coin. Though Shikhar had lost the toss in the first two ODIs, team India has attained an unassailable lead of 2-0 in the 3-match ODI series.
With the series already won by India, the third match of the series is just a formality. Team India hence has utilized this opportunity to play 5 new faces in the XI. There are 5 debutants for today’s match for Team India. They are Sanju Samson, Nitish Rana, Rahul Chahar, Chetan Sakariya, and K Gowtham. Navdeep Saini is replacing Deepak Chahar in today’s match.
Shikhar Dhawan’s Thigh-Five
The ever-entertaining, Shikhar Dhawan’s thigh-five is now not just limited to his fielding celebrations. Dhawan has included the act in his toss-winning occasions as well, as it was seen in Colombo today. After winning the toss Shikhar raised his leg for a thigh five. His hilarious celebration got the commentators laughing as well.

Dhawan won the toss as decided to bat first and when he was asked for the reason he stated : “We will bat first. We haven’t batted first and I feel the wicket is better and we want to put a total on the board.”
Dhawan also added about the changes in the playing XI “We have six changes and five debutants coming in. We are full of motivation.” he said. Shikhar said that the team would like to finish the series on a high and with a bunch of youngsters coming in, the team is quite excited and looking forward to the match.
It is worth mentioning that the last time India played 5 debutants in an ODI was back in 1980. Despite many youngsters getting a chance, Devdutt Padikkal and Ruturaj Gaikwad will still have to wait for their chance. After the conclusion of the ODI series, India will play a 3-match T20 series against Sri Lanka. The T20 series gets underway from July 25 at the R Premadasa Stadium, Colombo.
