The biggest carnival of cricket is just a couple of weeks away from kick start. Two times champions Kolkata Knight Riders are hoping for a positive result this season after a few changes. KKR hints Rinku Singh to replace Shreyas Iyer as Captain for IPL 2023 season.
KKR commented ‘our skipper’ and then deleted it;
Kolkata Knight Riders bought Shreyas Iyer for a hefty amount of money in the IPL mega auction 2022. The franchise made him the captain of their team but the player failed to make his team qualify for the playoffs.
Before the start of the 2023 season, KKR hints Rinku Singh to replace Shreyas Iyer as Captain for IPL 2023 season but later turned down their thought.
KKR posted a video of Rinku Singh batting in the nets in which they commented “Our Captain which they later deleted.
Though KKR is not looking to make Rinku Singh their new captain they might want to consider the likes of Russel, Narine, and Shakib Al Hassan as the replacement for Iyer.
Shreyas Iyer is set to miss the first few games of IPL 2023
The KKR skipper Shreyas Iyer missed the 4th test between India and Australia as he experienced severe Backpain. His back spasm forced him to miss the ODI series as well.
The player will join the KKR camp on the 28th of March but his condition will still be monitored as the player is advised to take rest.
Shreyas will miss the IPL 2023 for the first few games at least. The team would be looking to hand over the batten of captaincy to someone who is already experienced.

Players who are also capable to Captain KKR in IPL 2023
- Andre Russell: The Jamaican power-hitting all-rounder is one of the most capped players of KKR. Russel has been an out-and-out match-winner for KKR since the beginning. If KKR is looking for a long-time captain then Russel is the best choice as he has a lot of experience.
- Shakib Al Hassan:Â Shakib is the most experienced player in the KKR camp. He also has a lot of captaincy experience. It will be a great move for KKR to consider Shakib as their new skipper.
- Sunil Narine:Â The spin maestro is also one of the few who have repressed KKR a lot. Narine has the ability to remain calm in every situation which will help the team.
