Cricketer Virat Kohli is one of the most recognised Indian celebrities and his wife Anushka Sharma is no exception. Since coronavirus has started spreading in the country, the couple has created awareness among fans through social media. Now, Kohli and Anushka have made a donation and have given financial support to the country.

On Monday, Kohli took to Twitter to write, “Anushka and I are pledging our support towards PM-CARES Fund & the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund (Maharashtra). Our hearts are breaking looking at the suffering of so many & we hope our contribution, in some way, helps easing the pain of our fellow citizens”
Virat Kohli didn’t disclose the amount he and Anushka gave in the donation. However, if sources to be believed, the couple has donated a sum of 3 crore rupees towards PM-Cares and Maharashtra CM’s Relief Fund. Indian skipper Kohli and Bollywood Diva Anushka got the praise from the Netizens for the donation and not disclosing the amount.

Earlier, some of the other celebrities and businessmen have extended their support to fight coronavirus. Other than Virat, Sachin Tendulkar and Suresh Raina have also donated 25 lakh and 52 lakh rupees respectively. Akshay Kumar is topping the list among cricketers and Bollywood actors with a donation of 25 crore rupees.
India is currently supporting a 21-day lockdown to prevent the spread of coronavirus. So far, more than 1,100 confirmed cases of coronavirus have been reported in the country. The death toll in India has reached 30. The coronavirus outbreak has led to the cancellation of many sports event around the globe and IPL is one of them. Initially, the league was scheduled to start from 29 March but later it was postponed to till 15 April. However, there are no chances of IPL taking place in April.
