MS Dhoni has yet to make an appearance on the cricket field since the 2019 World Cup. There were talks of his retirement but the cricketer has not taken any decision on his future. However, he is continuously making himself unavailable from playing. No one knows what’s running in Dhoni’s mind. After the World Cup, he said no to the West Indies tour for serving his duties in the Army. West Indies tour followed by home T20I series with South Africa, but Dhoni’s name was once again missing from the squad. Chief selector told Dhoni had told the panel not to pick him.
Dhoni Gave Bad News
Now, again Dhoni has made himself unavailable from playing in upcoming 3 T20I match series against Bangladesh. Team India is scheduled to play 3 home T20s against Bangladesh starting November 3 at Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi. So, once again it’s sad news for Dhoni fans that he will miss the action. Maybe Dhoni is making himself unavailable so Rishabh Pant can get enough chances.
However, chief selector MSK Prasad had ensured that Dhoni will be a part of the Indian team at the certain tours to groom Rishabh Pant. Selectors are looking 38-year old wicket-keeper as a mentor for the young players. Experienced Dhoni’s presence is itself a boost for the players. Not only youngsters or bowlers, but he also helps captain Virat Kohli.
Rishabh Pant Failed To Impress
However, Dhoni has not been able to groom Rishabh Pant as he is continuously missing the action. Rishabh Pant who is now the first choice for the wicket-keeper is failing to make the best out of the opportunities. For the irresponsible behaviour, Ravi Shastri and MSK Prasad have warned the 21-year old.
Shastri said if he keeps playing rash shots then he needs to be ready to see an unpleasant result. On the other hand, MSK Prasad named 3 wicket-keepers as a back-up of Pant. The list includes the Sanju Samson, Ishan Kishan and KS Bharath who recently performed well for the India A.
