Rahul Tewatia is the man of the hour for Rajasthan Royals. From struggling to even touch the ball to win the game for his team, he turned the match against Kings XI Punjab upside down by hitting 5 sixes in the 18th over bowled by Sheldon Cottrell. The inning played by the left-hander is arguably one of the best innings ever played in the history of IPL.
So far, the 13th edition of the Indian Premier League has been a bonanza for the cricket fans. All the matches that have been played so far have been thrilling but match no. 9 played on 28th September between Rajasthan Royals and Kings XI Punjab tops them all. The game was filled with laudable batting performances from both the teams, but at the end, Rajasthan Royals got the better of Kings XI Punjab.
After winning the toss, KXIP chose to bat as has been the trend so far in this season. They got a brilliant start with KL Rahul and Mayank Agarwal batting fluently. Agarwal was firing all cylinders and KL Rahul supported him ably by rotating the strike. Agarwal went on to score his maiden IPL hundred in just 45 balls. The team set a mammoth target of 224 for the Royals.
Rahul Tewatia ended up hitting a half-century
Royals didn’t start well as they lost an important wicket of Jos Buttler only in the third over. However, Steven Smith and Sanju Samson picked up the pace and started hitting. At one point, Royal were in the chase but after Smith got out, things looked bleak for the team. Rahul Tewatia was promoted up the order but he could only manage 8 runs off 19 balls.
It seemed that the decision to promote Tewatia had backfired, but it was not the end of the story yet. Tewatia had plans to prove everyone wrong and he did it in a great passion. The team needed 51 runs off the last 3 overs and Tewatia made a mockery of Cottrell’s bowling as he hit 5 sixes in his over and more or less sealed the game for the Royals.
Rahul Tewatia Old Tweet Getting Viral
The fans are all praises for the all-rounder and are even apologizing for underestimating the talent of Tewatia. Rahul Tewatia made his debut in 2014 for Rajasthan Royals, however, couldn’t make a big impact and his permanent position in the team. Since his debut in Indian Premier League, he had played for 3 franchises. Before the 2014 Indian Premier League, the Rajasthan Royals bought Tewatia. He also made his T20 debut representing Rajasthan Royals in the 2014 IPL. In February 2017, he was bought by the Kings XI Punjab team for the 2017 Indian Premier League. And in 2017, he tweeted a motivational quote on Twitter about not giving up hope. It read, “Keep the faith. The most amazing things in life tend to happen right at the moment you’re about to give up hope.”
In January 2018, he was bought by the Delhi Daredevils in the 2018 IPL auction. During the 2019 Indian Premier League, he also set the joint record for taking the most number of catches by a non-wicket keeper in an IPL inning. However, In November 2019 before the 2020 Indian Premier League, he was traded to Rajasthan Royals.
Now after 3 years, when he won the match for Rajasthan Royals with his magnificent knock of 53 off just 31 balls including 7 sixes, his old tweet is getting viral over the internet. Here we are attaching Rahul Tewatia’s old tweet.
