India played a dead rubber against Afghanistan on Thursday evening but the fans had a lot many things to rejoice and the biggest of them all was Virat Kohli’s century. The star Indian batsman came in as an opener and enthralled the fans with his scintillating inning. The stand-in captain KL Rahul was quizzed by a reporter about Virat Kohli’s century as an opener and in his reply KL Rahul vented frustration.

Virat Kohli has long served the Indian team at No.3 in the shorter formats and No.4 in the longest format of the game. Kohli has been mighty successful at these positions, however, it is noteworthy that all of Kohli’s centuries in the IPL have come batting as an opener. The same fact was brought up by the reporter as he asked the stand-in skipper about Kohli opening the batting for India. KL Rahul vents frustration at the query by the reporter and did not like the question.
Talking to the media in the press conference after the match, KL Rahul was asked about Kohli’s century and whether the batsman can be given a chance to open the batting. Although praising Kohli for his 71st century, the query was surely not taken in good taste by the skipper as KL Rahul vents frustration saying, “To kya mai khud baith jaun? (So should I sit out then?)” KL himself looked in good touch in the match as he scored 62 runs off just 41 deliveries and notched up a 119-run partnership with Kohli.

“Virat scoring runs is a huge bonus for the team, and the way he played today against Afghanistan, I know he is very very pleased with how he batted today. He has been working on his game and that worked beautifully today. As a team, it is important for every player to get time out in the middle,” said KL Rahul while talking to the media.
Team India had already been eliminated from the Asia Cup after two back-to-back losses against Pakistan and Sri Lanka. Though the match against Afghanistan was inconsequential, team India had a lot of positives to take from the match. While on one hand, Kohli shined with the bat in the first inning, on the other hand, Bhuvneshwar Kumar rocked the Afghanistan batting line-up as he recorded his career-best T20I figures.
