Afghanistan pacer Naveen Ul Haq got involved in a verbal banter with star Indian batter Virat Kohli in the RCB vs LSG match in the IPL 2023. Naveen has now come up with a bold statement regarding his spat with Virat and has stated that it was the RCB batter who started the fight.
While the altercation started between Naveen and Kohli, LSG mentor Gautam Gambhir too interfered in the matter and had an ugly spat with the RCB batter. Both the players along with Gambhir were then reprimanded by the match referee after the RCB vs LSG game.
I didn’t start the fight: Naveen Ul Haq
“He shouldn’t have said all those things during the match and after it. I didn’t start the fight. After the match, when we were shaking hands, Virat Kohli started the fight. When you will look at the fines, you will understand, who started the fight,” Naveen told BBC Pashto.
“I just want to say one thing I generally don’t sledge anyone, and even if I do it I would say it to the batters only when I am bowling because I am a bowler. In that match, I didn’t utter a single word. I didn’t sledge anyone. Players, who were there they know how I dealt with the situation,” the LSG pacer further added.
Virat Kohli caught my hand forcefully after the RCB vs LSG clash: Naveen Ul Haq
“I never lost my temper, when I was batting or after the match. What I did after the match is can be seen by everyone. I was just shaking hands and then he (Kohli) caught my hand forcefully and I am also human being and I reacted,” Naveen stated about the verbal banter with Kohli.
The LSG pacer was seen in an animated exchange during the post-match formality after the RCB vs LSG game. On the other hand, Virat Kohli was seen in a verbal exchange with Kyle Mayers before LSG mentor Gautam Gambhir ushered him away. But, things took a turn for the worse as Gambhir squared up against Kohli and the banter ensued.
Both Virat Kohli and Naveen Ul Haq then shared a few Instagram stories and took a dig on each other after the biggest controversy of the IPL 2023 season. Cricket fans trolled the LSG pacer massively on Twitter and Instagram after the forgetful incident while he was also targeted on the field with Kohli… Kohli… chants from the crowd during the remaining IPL matches.
