Mujeeb Ur Rahman awkwardly wore the abdomen guard as he knew he was the center of attraction after the blunder he made. He eventually faced just 4 deliveries and scored a solitary run before getting dismissed by Mehidy Hasan Miraz in the 37th over leading the Hashmatullah Shahidi-led side into deeper trouble.
In the next over, Shoriful Islam got rid of Naveen-ul-Haq as the Afghanistan side were bundled out for a mere 156 runs allowing Bangladesh to be in the driver’s seat. Keeper-batter Rahmanullah Gurbaz was the highest run-getter as he scored 47 runs off 62 deliveries while all other batters failed to contribute enough.
Skipper Shakib Al Hasan was the star with the ball as he dismissed 3 top-order batters that led to Afghanistan’s collapse. Mehidy Hasan Miraz too scalped 3 wickets while Shoriful Islam took a couple of wickets for the Bangladesh side.
In response to the mediocre total set by the Afghanistan team, the Shakib Al Hasan-led side too lost their openers quite cheaply. However, Miraz and Najmul Hossain Shanto smashed crucial fifties that allowed their side to chase down the target in just 34.4 overs with 6 wickets in hand.
