Royal Challengers Bangalore were eliminated from the 14th edition of the Indian Premier League after their loss against Kolkata Knight Riders. Their dream of winning the trophy for the first time was shattered yet again as the team crumbled in the all-so-important game of the tournament. After their departure from the league, West Indian great Brian Lara has suggested RCB to release one star player who has underperformed.
The players from all the teams will go under the hammer in the Mega-Auction which is going to take place in December. It is going to be a very crucial auction as the teams will be able to retain only a certain number of players and it is surely going to be a difficult choice for them. Many franchises have their team sorted out, but their players will be in the market soon. As for RCB, Brian Lara has suggested a big name who they should release and it’s none other than AB de Villiers.
Brian Lara suggests releasing AB De Villiers
AB De Villiers has been a consistent performer for RCB, however, this edition, particularly the UAE leg has been disappointing for the 360-degree batsman. He has not been able to perform as his franchise and the fans would have liked him to. The UAE leg has put him under scanner and Brian Lara suggests that the franchise should release the star player.
While on one hand, Brian Lara suggests RCB release AB De Villiers, he opines that the franchise should retain Glenn Maxwell, Virat Kohli, and Devdutt Padikkal. The legendary batsman thinks that Maxwell has delivered as was asked of him by the coaches and the franchise. Also, the former West Indian think that Kohli is a match-winner whichever team he steps in. He also praised Devdutt Padikkal for his exploits in the ongoing tournament.
It would be interesting which of the players will be retained by the franchises ahead of the big auction in December. From now on, Virat Kohli’s services as a captain won’t be available for the franchise, however, he will continue as a batsman for the team.
