Kings XI Punjab has released R Ashwin from the squad. He captained Kings XI Punjab in IPL 2018 and IPL 2019 and team finished 7th and 6th respectively. Ashwin was criticized for his captaincy in both the seasons. Also, his Mankad incident was one of the controversial moments of IPL 2019. In 2018 auction, KXIP had purchased R Ashwin for 7.6 crore rupees and also retained him in 2019. Before playing in KXIP, the 32-year old off-spinner was a key player of Chennai Super Kings.
According to ESPNcricinfo, Delhi Capitals is set to pick Ravichandran Ashwin for the upcoming Indian Premier League season. This deal would be a cash buyout. Delhi already has spinners like Amit Mishra, Axar Patel, Jalaj Saxena, Nepal’s Sandeep Lamchhane and others. Ashwin’s presence will definitely make them the strongest spin bowling line-up in IPL.
In IPL 2019, under Shreyas Iyer’s captaincy, Delhi Capitals qualified for playoffs first time since 2012. Delhi had finished the league table at 3rd position in 2019. In last season, Shikhar Dhawan, Rishabh Pant and Shreyas Iyer were Delhi’s top batting performers.
KXIP Captain After R Ashwin
As R Ashwin is released from the side, now KL Rahul is the first choice for the new captain of Kings XI Punjab. Rahul is KXIP’s top performer in last two season. In IPL 2018 and IPL 2019, he was the 3rd and 2nd highest run-scorer respectively.

The team also has two big names Chris Gayle and David Miller, both have slight experience in captaincy. But both have a bad record as captain. David Miller has captained KXIP in 6 matches out of which team was able to win one match. Also, Gayle is a failure as the West Indies cricket team captain.
