Royal Challengers Bangalore’s run in the 14th edition of the Indian Premier League ended with their defeat against Kolkata Knight Riders. RCB’s match against KKR will surely be remembered as it was the last game for Kohli as captain. It will also be remembered because of the heated argument Kohli had with the on-field umpire. For the uninitiated, Kohli was extremely unhappy with 3 back-to-back wrong decisions in the same match by umpire Virender Sharma. All those decisions were against RCB and were overturned after the use of DRS.
This irked the RCB skipper to a great extent and he expressed his displeasure by having a heated exchange with the umpire. AB De Villiers said that some of the umpires will sleep a bit better now and this made the whole dressing room laugh.
It was an emotional moment for all the players as their dream of winning the IPL trophy is still a dream. The team has performed much better in the 2020 and 2021 editions of the league, making it into the playoffs, however, they couldn’t go ahead to lay their hands on the trophy. The franchise would definitely look to make some changes in the camp in the Mega-Auction in December.
